In all seriousness though, I really do need to double and triple check I've packed everything. I will give anyone headed to France the heads up that I was given. Pickpockets are a real deal in France. I've invested in purchasing a bag that has zippers and buttons galore, my husband was kind enough to make me a belt bag to keep my super important stuff (ie. money, credit card, ID) I was sure to make copies of all of my information for safe keeping. Called the credit card company so they don't shut off my card while I'm in Paris. I've started to create a semi detailed itinerary to keep myself somewhat on track. I purchased a French phrase book to help communicate. (unfortunately for me I learned Spanish and Italian, absolutely NO French) So, to give you a little run down of things that I personally believe you should have on this type of trip:
- Comfortable, stylish shoes (yeah let me tell you how tough this was for me!)
- Payless sells comfort shoes, I figured they look better than sneakers.
- Pack semi stylish clothing
- nothing says tourist like jeans, t shirts, and sneakers.
- Be sure to make copies of all important documents and find a safe place for keeping
- passport
- insurance
- credit card
- drivers license
- Have a safe place to carry said important documents
- belt bag
- hand bag you can keep close and has zippers and or buttons
- RFID protector
- yep the sneakiness of thieves has gotten to the point they can scan your card through an ordinary wallet
- A wallet you can carry around your neck
- makes it easier to access while you are in a terminal, I wouldn't recommend wearing that bad boy around town though. (unless the strap is able to withstand being cut off)
- Adapter
- Make sure you either have an international plan on your phone or be prepared to make it so you are not being charged!
- Clothesline
- this sounds a little silly but I imagine it will be far more convenient than trying to take things to and from a Laundromat.
- Pre register for your flight
With the neck wallet, it is easier to choke a person to so don't wear it all the time. Be safe my friend and don't go to any hostels.
ReplyDeleteNever ask for help in English. Use your Spanish or Italian. You will get better help and better wine.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, Parisians won't help much at all. I'm sure it's because they are afraid you're a gypsy trying to scam them.
